Taiwan Excellence officially launched its three-day event, LOHAS Days, on September 12 at Ayala Malls Market! Market, aiming to promote a Lifestyle of Health and Sustainability (LOHAS) among Filipinos. The event opened with a press conference attended by Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, who was formally introduced as a Taiwan LOHAS Advocate.

The event marked a major effort by Taiwan to introduce its wellness and sustainability innovations to the Philippine public. Key representatives from Taiwan institutions and leading health brands were present to show support.
The press conference began with a vibrant cheer dance performance set to Taiwan’s professional baseball team anthem, energizing the audience and symbolizing Taiwan’s dynamic entrance into the Philippine wellness scene.
Delivering the opening remarks, Ms. Josephine Shun, Director of the Economic Division at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines, said:
“Taiwan is serious about health. Our government is promoting a big vision called Healthy Taiwan. Taiwan is known as the Bicycle Kingdom and one of the top three fitness equipment exporters in the world. I invite you to enjoy everything around you and have fun with your family and friends.”
Mr. Alex Lai, Director of Taiwan Trade Center Manila, emphasized the value of innovation in the LOHAS movement:
“17 Taiwanese companies have brought more than 30 innovative products. The Taiwan Excellence Awards have celebrated innovation as Taiwan’s core value. Behind every award is a simple belief: innovation brings a better life.”

Miss Catriona Gray expressed her enthusiasm for the movement, stating:
“I’ve always admired Taiwan for being a leader in championing better health and wellness. Seeing LOHAS being shared here in the Philippines is an empowering reminder that living a healthy, sustainable lifestyle is something we can all embrace.”
The launch event also featured remarks from Ms. Anne Constantino, Senior Vice President for Operations at Anytime Fitness Asia Corporate, who shared her experience with Johnson Fitness, a Taiwan brand known for its smart fitness equipment. Other Taiwan brands supporting the initiative include JK Fitness, Starbia, Vinxper, and Aropec.

Day One Activities
Market! Market! was alive from morning until night as attendees of LOHAS Days on September 12 were able to access free fitness activities for the whole day, such as spin class, yoga session, and high-energy body combat.

What's next for Taiwan Excellence?
Taiwan Excellence continues the initiative driving innovation and sustainability as the Taiwan Excellence Pavilion at Taiwan Expo 2025 in the Philippines officially launches on September 17 to 19. Miss Universe 2018, Catriona Gray, is set to make a special appearance with a free autograph signing session and meet and greet.
Held at the SMX Convention Center, visitors will be able to experience leading Taiwan products that are driving a Comfortable Life, Smart City, and Greener Future. Attendees will also be able to win free gifts from Taiwan. Fu Bear will also be present at the pavilion, continuing its initiative for "Give Me Five! A better life." to attendees.
